Festive Family Fun
If you’re looking for some festive family fun while visiting Chorley town centre this Christmas, visit Fazakerley Street with a 44ft high Helter Skelter, small children’s fairground rides, some tasty festive food stalls and a cosy covered seating area from Saturday 2 December until Christmas Eve.
Bring the children along to whizz down the Helter Skelter or have a go yourself, then let the smaller kids take a whirl on the fairground rides before you all grab a bite to eat and a drink from the food vendors and other businesses on Fazakerley Street or the fantastic food traders in the Covered Market. There’s plenty of choice and you’re welcome to enjoy it all in the seating area with cosy blankets and twinkling lights. Chorley’s festive family fun is open 12pm to 6pm Monday to Wednesday; 12pm to 8pm on Thursday to Friday; 10am to 8pm on Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sundays, including Christmas Eve. All rides are individually priced and tickets for the Helter Skelter are available from the children’s ride operator on Fazakerley Street.
There’s also Chorley’s Santa Express running up to Astley Hall every weekend and although tickets to see Father Christmas are all sold out, you can still enjoy a return ride on the land train for £3 per person. Just pop along to the land train stop outside Chorley Council’s civic offices on Union Street. Plus if you’re shopping in Market Walk on Saturdays, the Art Venturers will be offering free Christmas arts and crafts, Father Christmas has installed his post box ready for your Christmas lists and letters and there will also be Christmas street entertainers with the Christmas Waiters on 9 December and The Jack’s of Frost on the 23 December.
