Refuse - flytipping
Fly Tipping is the same as illegal dumping or tipping and a term commonly used to describe larger amounts of waste left on land than litter.
Chorley Borough Council tackles fly-tipping in conjunction with the Environment Agency.
We deal with fly-tipping where it is anti-social or causes a nuisance, for example, the sofa on the side of the road or bags of rubbish in the river.
The Environment Agency get involved where fly-tipping can have a harmful effect on the environment, for example when what is tipped is toxic or fly-tipping that's organised, that is, people are dumping large quantities of waste in order to avoid the charges associated with disposing of it responsibly.
