Clayton-le-Woods
Welcome to Clayton-le-Woods a village set to the north of the town on the road to Preston.
You'll find this area a combination of wonderful countryside, busy village life and fascinating history.
Oopposite Back Lane is just one of the entrances to the Cuerden Valley Wildlife Park and the River Lostock flows through, with birds such as Kingfishers still.
In the grounds of nearby Cuerden Hall charcoal burning is still carried out by coppicing the woods. Linen hand weaver's cottages can still be found on Sheep Hill Lane and the village school dates from 1744.
