Chorley
Although Chorley is not officially recognised as a parish, it is made up of a number of 'wards' for local people, splitting the area into geographical zones and including the popular town centre with many shops and the famous Chorley Markets.
It's well worth a visit - and can be found easily off the M61 or M6.
Why not have a trawl through the shops then a picnic lunch in Astley Park, just minutes from the hub of the town centre. You could combine your visit with a call into Botany Bay - the landmark mill on junction 8 of the M61 which has been transformed into a shopping village.
