The get up and go programme is a free or low cost activity programme for children and young people in Chorley.
Aimed at doing what it says - get up and go.
Throughout the summer, the Council's Get Up and Go team has organised specialised activities which enable young people to gain news skills and improve their ability in a range of sports, arts, music, dance and drama. Many sessions will have prizes and rewards with certificates of attendance for taking part.

History of get up and go
The programme kicked off in the summer holidays of 2003 aimed at getting youngsters active and providing something for them to do on the long summer days.
The programme then developed and offered activities in school holidays throughout the year, meaning there was plenty on offer.
Since 2005 get up and go has transformed into activity at all times of the day including evenings and weekends all year round making it one of the best attended and popular activity programmes for young people in the country.
There is such a diverse menu that ranges from archery, bird box making, drama, football, netball sports tournaments and young people volunteering schemes.
Our promise to you - the get up and go pledge:
- That all activity will be assessed and run at appropriate venues.
- We will work with trained and experienced staff that can demonstrate they have passed Criminal Records Bureau checks, to work with children.
- Activity will be insured and first aid will be provided on site.
Useful Information and Conditions:
- Parents and guardians will be informed of their choice of activity in writing where possible (pre-book activity).
- We reserve the right to cancel or change any activity in writing or via phone in case of bad weather, staff illness or circumstances beyond our control.
- Please note that demand for pre-booked sessions, especially those at peak holiday times, is high and classes become booked up quickly.
- We reserve the right to exclude any child who constantly misbehaves.
- We are able to give details of local clubs and groups to support your child's development further.
- For your child's welfare we expect all children to adhere to health and safety guidance of staff.
- If you secure a pre-booked place and you fail to give adequate notice prior to the start of the activity, you may be charged for non-attendance and it may affect your future standing when booking places.
