Helping the homeless
PRIVATE landlords are being invited by Chorley Council to a forum aimed at working together to meet housing needs.
The forum meets every three months, however the next meeting on Thursday, December 10, will be co-hosted by the National Landlords' Association.
Association regional representative Tom Reynolds will chair the meeting, in the Council Chamber at Chorley Town Hall, and also speak on the role of the Association.
Councillor Peter Malpas, Chorley Council's Executive Member (Business) said: "The forum gives the opportunity for the Council and private landlords to work together to help address a number of strategic housing issues facing the borough such as raising standards across the private rented sector and addressing homelessness.
"This meeting will also give national as well as local input."
There will be a chance to network from 5.30pm with benefits officers available for questions, followed by the business meeting at 6pm.
Other speakers include Janice Moore, Homelessness Prevention Officer with Chorley Council who will speak on the Council's rental bond scheme; Jim Wild, the Council's Community Safety Officer, who will address anti-social behaviour in private sector housing, and Martin Sample, Chorley Council's Private Sector Housing Officer who will give the results and feedback from the Private Landlord Survey 2009.
There will also be information updates on the Private Sector Housing assistance Policy and the Strategic Housing Partnership.
