How does your garden grow?

IS everything in your garden rosy? Or is there an ornamental oasis that's the envy of your neighbourhood?

If so Chorley Council wants to hear from you because the search is on to find the garden that is making Chorley smile.

Chorley Council has once again joined forces with the Chorley and District Gardening Society to find the most beautiful garden in the borough.

The annual Best Kept Garden Competition is now open for nominations and the winner could be you.

There's a top prize of £150 worth of gardening vouchers up for grabs plus the prestigious title of Chorley's Best Kept Garden 2010.

Councillor Eric Bell, Chorley Council's Executive Member for Neighbourhoods said: "There are some fantastic gardens in the borough of Chorley which when you walk or drive past them lift your spirits and make you smile.

"Their owners have worked really hard on them and they deserve to be rewarded. But we don't know where they all are so we are relying on people to let us know.

"So if you have a lovely garden that you are proud of, or you know of someone who has, then send in a nomination form. The gardens nominated must be visible from the road or pavement."

The winner will also receive a trophy, presented by Chorley and District Gardening Society, and a framed certificate.

Second prize is £100 worth of gardening vouchers and a framed certificate and there's a third prize of £50 worth of vouchers and a framed certificate.

All vouchers have been kindly donated by Birkacre Garden Centre, Birkacre Road, Chorley.

Pick up a nomination form either from the Council's Civic Offices on Union Street, Chorley, or from Birkacre Garden Centre.

Initial judging will be done from photographs taken from the pavement or road with the homeowner's permission and/or a detailed description of the garden and an expert panel will judge each entry and draw up a shortlist to be judged in person in July.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, July 2, 2010.

All entries should be sent to Best Kept Garden Competition, Chorley Council, Civic Offices, Union Street, Chorley PR7 1AL
