Local Development Framework

The Chorley Borough Local Plan Review will be replaced with a Local Development Framework (LDF).

What is a Local Development Framework?

A Local Development Framework is a folder of local development documents that outlines how planning will be managed in your area. It is intended to be more responsive to change than the old system of local plans and allows for greater public participation.

The framework will comprise a series of documents on different topics, most of these will either be:

What will be in the LDF? 

All topics will be covered except minerals and waste matters which will be dealt with by Lancashire County Council.

How are the documents created?

DPDs go through a series of preparatory stages before they are finalised and adopted:

Supplementary Planning Documents are first prepared in draft form for consultation and community involvement and then, after consideration of the comments made, are adopted.
