How to complete your election postal vote pack

Depending on the number of elections taking place in your area, you may have more than 1 ballot paper, of different colours, included in your postal pack.

Step 1

Check that the number on the back of your ballot paper(s) matches the number shown on the front of the postal voting statement.

  • detach the postal voting statement by tearing carefully along the perforations
  • make sure you fill in the date of birth and signature boxes on the postal voting statement

Step 2

For your vote to be counted, you must fill in and return the postal voting statement with your ballot paper(s).

  • Vote for the number of candidates it says at the top of the ballot paper(s)  by putting a cross (X) in the box next to your choice.
  • Do not mark the ballot paper in any other way or your vote may not count.

Step 3

Peel off the right-hand label "A" and stick it carefully in the space on the front of ballot paper(s) envelope "A".

Step 4

Place your completed ballot paper(s) into envelope "A" and seal it.

Step 5

Peel off the left hand label "B" and stick it carefully in the space on the front of envelope "B".

Step 6

Place your completed postal voting statement (not folded) and the sealed envelope "A" into return envelope "B" and post without delay.
